Spiritual Obesity

    October 29, 2008

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.” (Luke 13:24)

“Whoa! You’ve gained weight”, Frank told Jack. Jack smiles, “What? This? Of course not. It’s just my belt. It shrunk.”

Denial. Many of us do that when it comes to our physical weight. But what about our spiritual weight. Are we honest enough to acknowledge the spiritual state of our souls?

IIs that 1 calorie of gossip? Or a ton of insensitive remarks? Or a cholesterol called self-centerdness?

Today, make a decision to rid yourself of excess weight which may prevent you from entering through the narrow gate towards heaven. Stick with the bare essentials of life. Say no to sin. Live simply. Love.

Only the slim goes in.

A blessed day to you, my friend!

Your friend, in Christ,

Bobby Q.
